Support the return of beloved music teacher, Lorie Wolf

Support the return of beloved music teacher, Lorie Wolf
The Issue
Lorie Wolf is a treasured music teacher at Clinton Public school who was reassigned without sufficient explanation by the Toronto District School Board, leaving a void within the Clinton Community.
We, the undersigned members of the Clinton Public School community, wish to express our strong support for Ms. Lorie Wolf, an outstanding educator and music specialist who has contributed enormously to our school over the past two decades. We hope this petition affirms that her work is valued, her presence is missed, and her return is strongly supported.
Ms. Wolf is a highly qualified and dedicated teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, a Bachelor of Education (Junior and Intermediate Divisions, Instrumental Music), and an Honours Specialist in Music Education from Queen’s University. She also holds additional certifications in vocal music, Orff-Schulwerk, and has trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Since Ms. Wolf's leave, Clinton has ceased to offer any consistent music program to students.
Since 2009, Ms. Wolf has served as the Primary/Junior Music Teacher at Clinton Street Public School, where she designed and delivered curriculum-based music programming for Kindergarten to Grade 6—including LD, DD, gifted, and mixed-grade classes. She has consistently tailored lesson plans to meet the needs of students with IEPs and diverse learning profiles, fostering the love of music in all..
Her valuable contributions to the school go far beyond what is expected of a grade school teacher and include:
- Developing and sustaining a comprehensive music program, including founding and directing the Clinton School Choir, which has performed with the Toronto Children’s Chorus and at the Kiwanis Festival (Gold Standard).
- Leading two excellent school concerts per year, handling everything from equipment logistics to student arrangements and rehearsals—showcasing a wide range of media from instrumental ensembles to theatre and mixed media.
- Fundraising thousands of dollars to support music initiatives, including building an off and ukulele program from scratch by securing special pricing and purchasing many high-quality instruments meant to last a lifetime.
- Managing and repairing school instruments in-house, saving the school thousands in repair and replacement costs.
- Running extracurricular clubs such as choir, guitar, ukulele, percussion, music tech, garden club and caross-country coaching.
- Organizing enriching field trips and bringing in guest musicians to expose students to professional performance and diverse musical traditions.
Ms. Wolf also played a central role in ensuring equitable access for students (and, when necessary, their families):
- She quietly provided lunches for students in need.
- Created an inclusive hangout space during lunch for students needing a safe place.
Helped families with language barriers navigate employment and wage issues. - Donated and repurposed abandoned lost-and-found clothing for disadvantaged students.
- Ran initiatives such as the clothing swap to build community and support student well-being.
Her efforts extend beyond classroom teaching—they reflect a long-standing commitment to the holistic development of children and the strengthening of school culture.
We, as parents, students, colleagues, and community members, believe that Ms. Wolf has had a profoundly positive impact on our school. She is a dedicated professional who has invested over two decades into building a rich, inclusive, and creative learning environment.
We respectfully ask that her contributions be recognized and that she be welcomed back as soon as possible to continue the work she has done so selflessly and skillfully.
