Last week Glen Innes Council voted to change the scope of their rail trail section. They had received their grant in 2020 and by now costs have risen due to many delays including Covid. They recalculated and like Armidale decided to complete the first section from Glen Innes to Glencoe. Now they need to get a new grant to complete Glencoe to Ben Lomond. Trains North agitators including Councillor Margaret O'Connor demonstrated before their meeting. The Mayor of Glen Innes Severn Council Rob Banham put it very plainly when he said that Trains North doesn't have a battle with Council, it has a battle with the State Govt. Armidale Council will be meeting tomorrow 22nd May. The Report on their Active Transport Strategy will be put to a vote for public consultation. The Rail Trail is included.
