Campbell Pool Update: $3.6 Million Allocated to Begin Design

Here’s what the city shared. Built in 1951 as part of Campbell High School, the pool served our community for 75 years. The city says it has now reached the end of its functional life. Plumbing leaks developed over the past year or two. The city initially hoped temporary repairs would keep the pool operating through the summer class session, but a catastrophic leak forced an earlier closure and draining. Thanks to collaboration with the Campbell Union High School District and Westmont High School, summer classes were quickly relocated to Westmont’s pool. The city continues to explore other temporary options, although availability is limited because local high school pools are already in use. Here’s where replacement plans stand: * $3.6 million has been allocated from the city’s park dedication fund to begin designing a new pool and the surrounding area. * The estimated replacement cost is approximately $12 million. * Possible funding sources include park dedication funds, future general fund support, Measure K funds if released, and grants. * Construction timing remains uncertain. The city is still working to identify the funding needed before construction can begin. The design allocation is an encouraging step. It gives this project a starting point, while securing the remaining funding will be essential to getting our community back in the water.
