Support the Humanitarian Resettlement of Palestinians in Australia - Embracing Indigenous Rights and Australian Solidarity

We, the undersigned, call upon the Australian government to extend a helping hand to Palestinian refugees seeking shelter and a fresh start in Australia, particularly in the aftermath of the mass genocide in Gaza. It's imperative to recognize that Palestinians are the indigenous people of their land, and in advocating for their rights, we draw parallels to our advocacy for the Gadigal people, the traditional owners of the land upon which Sydney, and Australia, was built.

The recent genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza have left countless Palestinian families displaced, their homes destroyed, and their lives shattered. These innocent individuals have endured unimaginable hardship and loss, just as many Indigenous communities have throughout history. It's our responsibility, as a nation that seeks reconciliation and justice for Indigenous Australians, to extend our support to Palestinians who have been similarly affected by this tragic genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Furthermore, we acknowledge the vast community of Palestinian Australians who have lost family members in Gaza and are willing to welcome their fellow Palestinians into their lives and homes for a fresh start. This display of solidarity is not only heartwarming but a testament to the values of compassion and unity that Australia holds dear.

The enormous global support for Palestinians is evident, as we witness thousands of people emailing government officials, participating in protests, signing petitions, and using their platforms to be the voice for Palestinians. Across the world, hundreds of thousands are taking to the streets to show solidarity with Palestinians. The least that Australia can do is to allow them a fresh start, demonstrating our commitment to humanitarian values and supporting those in need.

As of October 31, 2023, there have been 8,306 deaths in this ongoing tragedy, with 3,500 of those being innocent children. Since the seventh of October, Israel has unleashed over 12,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, including the use of illegal weapons and chemicals, such as white phosphorus. These actions have raised serious concerns of numerous international war crimes committed in this ongoing crisis.

We urgently call for a ceasefire so that as soon as it is possible for Palestinians to leave Gaza, Australia can open its doors to welcome them. Please sign this petition to support the call for Australia to stand in unity with those who have suffered in this genocide in Gaza, welcoming Palestinians as they seek refuge and a fresh start in our country.
