We believe VicTrack, the government body managing land around Victoria's rail tracks, has a unique opportunity to transform under-utilised land into vibrant urban green spaces. By enhancing greenery along railway corridors, VicTrack could boost biodiversity (offering habitat and safe pathways for wildlife across urban areas), reduce urban heat effects, and create shared community spaces that foster connection and well-being.

VicTrack's current strategic plan does not include a commitment to utilising its land for urban greenery. With the 2025 strategic plan soon to be drafted, now is the perfect time for VicTrack to prioritise this important issue. By integrating urban greening into their upcoming strategy, VicTrack could help create a more sustainable, greener future for Victoria.
