As a mother of three incredible young men and a Richmond Heights resident, I deeply care about the future of our city and school district. Our city is at a crucial crossroads, and we have an urgent decision to make—one that will impact generations to come. My husband and I witnessed the need for an improved educational facility and an investment in our community. We must pass the upcoming tax levy that will not only fund the construction of a much-needed new elementary school but also operate our district moving forward.
Our current elementary school, built in 1965, has served us well over the decades, but it is now long past its prime. The infrastructure is outdated, and despite ongoing repairs, it simply cannot meet the needs of modern education or ensure the safety and well-being of our students. Over the years, we’ve had to invest in countless repairs—roof leaks, plumbing issues, and heating problems—but these band-aid solutions only temporarily fix the symptoms of a much larger problem.
The last ballot issue passed in 2017, seven years ago. Since then, the needs of our schools have only grown. The proposed levy will give us the funds necessary to build a new, modern facility and operate our district moving forward. This decision is about more than just bricks and mortar—it’s about our future. The decisions we make now will echo in the lives of our children and the welfare of our community. This fight is about more than just a ballot issue; it's about ensuring future generations have access to the resources they need to flourish.
