Support The Friends of Margaret Pace Park in Securing Permits for Community Activities
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully request the city to grant 'The Friends of Margaret Pace Park' community the necessary permits to use Margaret Pace Park for our community sports and activities.
Purpose of the Petition:
Nestled under the Floridian sun, our Edgewater, Miami community holds a special place that has cultivated friendships and unity through the power of sports. In less than a year, we've witnessed a magnificent explosion of community engagement, with over 1,000 residents participating in a diverse range of activities. Now, we are vested in officially establishing 'The Friends of Margaret Pace Park' community to offer these enriching experiences to even more of our neighbors.
What We Have Created:
We've created a unique platform where anyone can instruct and attend a variety of classes across all possible sports, activities, and exercise classes. This flexibility allows residents to share their passions and skills, fostering a vibrant and diverse community.
Why We Need Margaret Pace Park:
Margaret Pace Park is central to our vision, providing the perfect environment and space necessary for our community's growth and improvement. By granting us the necessary permits to use Margaret Pace Park, the city will enhance the quality of life in Edgewater. Our community members come together to participate in and create their own activities, from tennis matches to yoga sessions, and even friendly chess tournaments. This engagement not only promotes health and wellness but also strengthens the bonds among neighbors, creating a united and supportive community.
Benefits to the Community:
Research consistently affirms the benefits of community sports for fostering unity, promoting health, and generating economic benefits. For instance:
Health and Wellness: A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlights the positive impact of community physical activity programs on public health, noting significant improvements in physical and mental health outcomes .
Social Cohesion: According to the Aspen Institute’s Project Play, community sports can help build social connections and improve the quality of life by bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging .
Economic Impact: The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) reports that local sports and recreation activities contribute to economic growth by increasing local spending on equipment, apparel, and related services .
Margaret Pace Park, with its courts and various areas, is an ideal location for our community to gather, play, and grow together. With the city’s support, we can ensure that these opportunities remain accessible to all residents, fostering a spirit of inclusiveness and active participation.
Our Request:
We, the members of this flourishing community, implore the city to aid us in cultivating this brilliant initiative. Our neighborhood should be more than just houses standing next to each other — it should house friendships and community spirit, thriving on the playing field. Help us drive this movement towards a stronger, more united community.
Please join us in urging the city to grant 'The Friends of Margaret Pace Park' community the permits needed to use Margaret Pace Park for our sports and activity classes.
