The Issue

Creating a community space like Heritage Park in White Pine County, NV has been a personal dream of mine for a long time. Our community is in desperate need of facilities that cater to both the young and the old, offering spaces where families can come together, engage in physical activities, and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. This park would not only improve the quality of life for residents but also provide our children and teens with places for sporting events, recreation, and personal development.

For those with misinformation, White Pine County’s property tax rate has stayed the same since 2006: $3.66 per $100 of assessed value. That means the rate hasn’t increased, even when the county builds new things like parks.

However, your property tax bill can still change over time, not because of new projects like this park, but because of changes in your property’s assessed value. If your home is reassessed at a higher value, your bill may go up, but the tax rate itself hasn’t changed.

So, if taxes are not going to go up, and it’s not going to cost us anything, why would we say no to this? How often do people get a fully funded project like this offered to their rural community?

Imagine having much-needed baseball and softball fields where our children could hone their skills and partake in local competitions, full-size basketball courts where friends and families could bond over a game, and pickleball courts, catering to the varied interests of our diverse populace.

Moreover, the inclusion of a playground would offer a safe space for our youngest members to play and learn, while a bicycle pump track and walking trails will serve as a gateway for adults and families to engage in healthy outdoor activities. Such additions are more than just amenities—they are essential in fostering community spirit, encouraging active lifestyles, and promoting overall well-being.

Heritage Park promises to be a cornerstone for community gatherings, educational activities, and family outings. It addresses the growing need for open spaces where different generations can meet, interact, and learn from one another. This park will undoubtedly become the heart of our community in White Pine County where we are proud to live, work, and raise a family.

I urge the residents of White Pine County to come together and support this initiative. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a brighter, healthier future for all of us. Let's unite to make Heritage Park a reality and a beacon of community pride and wellness. Please lend your support by signing this petition.
