Support the AR-SUPP & CARA Reform Act. Protect parents & children reform
The Issue
AR-SUPP REFORM CAMPAIGN SUMMARY
Support NOT Sabotage
AR-SUPP reform isn't mine anymore, it belongs to every father, every parent who’s been unheard, and every family that’s been struggling in silence.
What began as my personal fight has now become a movement. Just recently, a young father named Peter approached me. We spoke briefly, and he said something that stopped me in my tracks:
“You know how many homeless fathers are out there right now, caught on the brutal end of the stick from child support?”
That one moment reminded me why this campaign matters, not just for me, but for countless others across California and the nation. Fathers who are fighting to stay involved in their children’s lives. Fathers who’ve been punished instead of supported. Parents who have cried the same tears, lived the same pain, and were left unheard.
AR-SUPP reform is about restoring hope, dignity, and fairness.
It’s about recognizing parents who are actively involved or trying to be involved , and not branding them as criminals for circumstances out of their control. It’s about changing a system that has driven too many into poverty, homelessness, and despair , not because they didn’t want to be there for their kids, but because the system made it nearly impossible.
And one of the most "counterproductive punishments". of all
"DMV license suspensions."
It makes no sense that a parent, in either role, is stripped of their legal ability to drive. How are we expected to take our kids to school, to the doctor, to practice, to events? How are we supposed to get to work — the very job that makes payment even possible?
This policy doesn’t add up it breaks down lives,
Driving on a suspended license isn’t just stressful , it’s terrifying.
You risk being pulled over, having your car impounded, paying towing fees, filing police release reports, losing your job, losing your insurance, all while DCSS turns a blind eye to the domino effect they’ve caused.
I’ve lived it.
And I’ve heard this same ripple of pain from countless others.
How can we support our children when the system punishes us for trying?
It doesn’t make sense.
And it has to change.
This reform calls for a better path.
One that separates support from punishment.
One that gives families a chance to rebuild.
One that says: You are not alone.
We are not asking for pity.
We are demanding policy.
And this time, we will be heard.
"Together, we can make this happen. I can't do this without your support."
I know there are many out there who can relate ,fathers especially, but even some mothers. So many good parents have been left behind, sidelined, or silenced by a system that never stopped to ask if they were trying. Many gave up, not because they didn’t care — but because the system told them they didn’t matter.
AR-SUPP is our voice. It's our movement. And it's our chance to finally be heard, respected, and supported.
