As current students within the Clark County School District, my friend and I have witnessed firsthand the erosive impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on students' work ethic. Its unchecked integration within the education sphere has led to frustrations for educators and compromises in learning. Therefore, we are introducing the AI Regulation in Education Bill, Nevada's first extensive attempt to regulate AI usage in learning institutions. 

If passed, this bill could pioneer the future of Nevada's education system, following the footsteps of similar impactful legislations in California. Its significance, however, goes beyond being precedent-setting. It can ensure our students develop the resilience, industry, and skills needed for higher studies and career progression in an increasingly tech-dependent world.

We understand the potential benefits AI can bring to our classrooms, and therefore, our legislation does not contain any hard regulatory language, instead proposing the creation of a full-time AI committee comprised of industry experts and community leaders to research the most effective implementation of regulation across different school districts, subjects, etc. We need to prevent the misuse and over-reliance on AI at the expense of our youth's learning.
