We want to pressure Springfield representatives to take initiative and vote for the Affordable Homes Act (Bill H.4138). Since the pandemic, housing prices and the cost of living have soared, with the average cost of housing rising nearly 30% since 2020. This has obviously made it increasingly difficult for people to find affordable housing. In Springfield, especially, we have observed a lack of affordable or low-income housing, and even when construction of buildings is happening, they are usually high-end apartments. This bill would authorize $4 billion worth of spending on the  new housing projects and make current homes more affordable, as well as helping the state reach its climate goals.
