Support Survivors of Child Abuse Re…Royal Commission

Support Survivors of Child Abuse Re…Royal Commission
The issue
To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales.
The petition of the citizens of New South Wales calls on the Australian Government to support Survivor Justice Rights Now! Survivors are Aboriginal Stolen Generation, Former Child Migrants, Forgotten Australians, Forced Adoptions, LGBTIQPNSGDA+ people born outside of wedlock who as children were placed in institutions or some other form of out-of-home care during the 20th century and is still happening today. Many survivors who seek compensation have been silenced by gag orders. Inadequate, to almost no compensation has been received by Survivors through any avenue including the complicated National Redress Scheme. These gag orders create legal barriers to prevent perpetrators from being charged with the crime. Survivors get threatened with 100-year jail sentences if they break these gag orders to speak up. The community gets prevented by these gag orders from being educated to prevent these injustices from happening again.
The injustices survivors experienced include: forced removal from families and communities, deemed illegal births, denied return to birth families, forced adoption, denied adoption, denied records, erased or denied identification, racism, transphobia, aphobia, bigotry, disablism, bastardization, genocide, bullying, persecution, torture, rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, humiliation, depersonalisation, victim blamed, medical abuse involving behaviour modification with drugs or shock therapy or conversion therapy by misdiagnosed quackery for non-existent illnesses, forced child slave labour, denied education, denied work rights, police brutality, deaths in custody, denied birth rights, denied citizenship rights, denied human rights, silenced, falsification of history or present or future, lied to, told half-truths. The list of injustices that happened is endless. This injustice must stop today.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to: -
1. A review for all payments received on or about to be made by the state government.
2. Make the payments fit the abuse and trauma.
3. Remove all gag orders.
4. Remove agreements that deny the rights of survivors.
5. Charge the perpetrators with the crime.
