Support Protected Bike Lanes on Armitage

The Issue

Bikers are constantly subjected to various dangers when riding on Armitage. Many of them are students trying to get to Lincoln Park High School. Other important biking destinations along the street include the CTA Armitage Station, and the Armitage shopping corridor.

With your support, current bikers would have a vastly safer experience, and more people would be encouraged to bike to their destinations. Protected bike lanes on Armitage would mean less traffic and noise, and a safer, more enjoyable street for drivers and bikers alike!

Responded
From the Office of Alderman Timmy Knudsen: Thank you for your email. As you know, the City's Department of Transportation recently completed the Armitage Street Resurfacing project. As part of that project, CDOT did survey Armitage and made important improvements to the bike infrastructure along that route. As a part of that survey, it was determined that Armitage Ave is not a viable stretch for protected bike lanes. However, CDOT and the 43rd Ward Office is working on an important Arterial Resurfacing project along Clark Street that would massively improve the bike infrastructure along that route. We'll be sharing more about that improvement project as we get more info. Take care, Office of Alderman Timmy Knudsen
