Half of all pregnancies in the U.S. each year are unintended and are the highest rate among industrialized nations.

Prevention First would address our nation's unmet needs by ensuring that federally-funded sex education programs are medically accurate, increasing desperately needed public funding for family planning services for low-income women, guaranteeing coverage of contraception through private insurance plans, and improving awareness of emergency contraception.

Prevention First is legislation that would address the unacceptably high rate of unplanned pregnancies in the United States by increasing family planning funding, ending insurance discrimination against women, improving awareness about emergency contraception, and requiring programs to focus on medically accurate sex education.
