As friends of Port Costa, we would like to express our deep concern regarding the proposed Field Semester School development in Port Costa CA, specifically taking place at its 3 largest landmarks - the Port Costa School House, The Burlington Hotel, and the Port Costa Lake.

If The Field Semester’s development plan is supported by The Port Costa Conservation Society, and approved by the Contra Costa Department of Conservation and Development, the town’s population will increase by approximately 30%, risking its delicate infrastructure, and in turn greatly inhibiting the long-lived hospitableness to town visitors. Further, by turning the integrity of the town into a business oriented private school hub, loss of the very essence that makes Port Costa one of the last historical, unique, & charming destinations enjoyed by Contra Costa County residents and beyond, is imminent.

While we acknowledge the importance of community progress, we believe it is essential to strike a balance that preserves the character of this beloved town, serves the integrity developed by the existing population, and takes the best interests of ALL Port Costa residents and lovers into account.

As friends of Port Costa, we urge you to sign this petition in support of safeguarding this community's unique character and infrastructure and ensuring that our concerns are heard and taken seriously by the governing boards that oversee its future.
