The Issue

LCPS rezoned Kirkpatrick Farms to the Pinebrook, Willard, and Lightridge cluster within the past few years, and now we are facing another rezoning. Rezone Plan 935 supports keeping Kirkpatrick Farms together, as well as keeping the communities that have been with our Pinebrook/Willard/Lightridge cluster zoned with us as well.

The current presented plan is to split KPF in half and send the kids to two separate clusters. With having three separate school board reps and two county supervisors, many residents have felt that our community suffers in the name of "the greater good." This situation is no different. With new school board reps, we have the chance to finally be heard. Their predecessors historically would not reply to calls or emails, and did not make decisions in our community's best interest. This is their chance to work for us instead of against us, but we have to show them that we care about our community.

Some of the main points that the school board presented were keeping communities whole, providing stability, and aligning school clusters. This plan goes against what they're promoting.

The next meetings are May 20th, June 2nd, and June 10th. Please sign the petition and email your concerns to lcpsplan@lcps.org. Vote for Plan 935 for Kirkpatrick Farms and the neighboring communities that have been with us in our Pinebrook cluster for years.
