Support Pittsburgh Police Firing Range...the Petition against the Petition

The Issue

The Pittsburgh Police Firing range on Washington Blvd. Has been a part of the east end of Pittsburgh for approximately 40 years.   Recently, a group of neighbors decided the sounds of their practice were disturbing to them for a number of reasons.  While mental health is of the utmost importance, the firing range is an essential part of police training and their need to remain in the community is crucial.  Any effort to improve the experience of police training is a good thing, but this effort has become political and anti-police Moreso than a concern for mental health.  If you look at the comments on the original petition and on social media following these stories, you'll find this to be accurate.

Furthermore, the Commander of Zone 5 and the training division has been more than accommodating to the community.  The hours of practice are so restricitive that our officers aren't getting adequate night practice, which is unrealistic to their job.   They also send out notifications on when the range will be in use.

A few people have decided they will make shutting this range down their priority..and if the gunfire from this range stops, it will NOT stop the sound of shots being fired in our communities as the crime in Pittsburgh has been out of control this year.

Please sign this petition if you live, work, or go to school in the neighborhoods including and surrounding Highland Park in Pittsburgh, PA.  Let's counter their movement as the community that has been a proud neighbor of this range.
