Support Permanent Facilities for SGHS – Prioritize Our Students' Learning Environment

Support Permanent Facilities for SGHS – Prioritize Our Students' Learning Environment
The Issue
We, the undersigned members of the South Gwinnett High School community—including parents, students, educators, alumni, and local residents—respectfully call on the Gwinnett County Board of Education and district leadership to take decisive action to address long-standing infrastructure challenges at our school.
South Gwinnett High School has experienced consistent population growth in recent years due to new housing developments and increased community engagement. Despite this growth, our campus has not received meaningful structural expansion in over a decade. Unlike other schools in the county—such as Archer, Grayson, and Central Gwinnett—our students are now being educated in temporary trailer units due to overcrowding, a situation that raises serious concerns about equity, safety, and educational quality.
Key Issues:
- Overcrowded classrooms hinder meaningful instruction and learning
- Trailer units lack the resources and structure of permanent classrooms
- Parking congestion negatively impacts safety and accessibility
- Athletic and academic facilities are not aligned with those in comparable high schools.
We understand that developments require time, funding, and planning. That is why we respectfully ask for a public commitment to prioritize this project and pursue appropriate funding—such as SPLOST allocations—by December 2025.
The South Gwinnett PTSO and our broader community are committed to supporting this initiative through collaboration, advocacy, and active dialogue. We firmly believe that every student in Gwinnett County deserves access to facilities that reflect their potential and support their academic success.
Please join us by signing this petition and standing with the South Gwinnett Cluster in our call for investment, equity, and progress.
📣 Together, we can create a stronger, safer, and more inspiring future for all South Gwinnett students.
