Throughout our high school years, our golf coach, Cecil Woods, has played an instrumental role not just in shaping our game, but also in shaping our characters. He has consistently gone above and beyond, demonstrating kindness, patience, and a genuine commitment to each one of his students. It’s this commitment that has significantly impacted our team, fostering not only our skills in golf but also our life skills—skills such as discipline, perseverance, and respect.

Now, however, our beloved coach has been suspended from his role as coach. This decision seems to be rooted not in his performance or dedication, overlooking the direct, positive impact a coach has on their students.

Our coach’s record speaks for itself. Under his guidance, our team has not only won 7 CIF championships and 15 straight league championships, but we've also developed a team spirit that is rare in any educational setting, let alone in competitive sports. He treats everyone with respect and serves as a role model in and out of the sports arena. His approach is not merely about winning, but about nurturing young individuals who might someday make a positive impact in their communities.

Statistics from multiple schools indicate that sports programs with coaches who create supportive environments, like him, lead to better student outcomes both academically and socially. Therefore, removing him would not only harm our sports program but also diminish the culture of kindness and encouragement he’s cultivated.
