Support our Director, Sister Joan
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urge the Religious of Jesus and Mary (RJM) to reconsider their decision to replace Sister Joan as Director of Thevenet Montessori School as of September 2025. We respectfully request that Sister Joan remain in her role through the 2025-26 school year as a transition period and allowing time for a transparent and inclusive search for her successor.
We believe that this approach would ensure a smoother adjustment for students, teachers, and parents and also be more respectful of Sister Joan’s nine years of exceptional leadership.
We believe Sister Joan’s steady presence has been a cornerstone of the school’s success. Extending her tenure by one year would provide the Thevenet community the stability it needs to navigate this change thoughtfully. A rushed transition risks undermining the trust and morale that she has cultivated so carefully.
We believe the decision process to date has not reflected the values of grace, compassion, and transparency that define Thevenet Montessori. It has also fails to show Sister Joan the respect and autonomy her dedicated service merits.
We ask for an open dialogue with parents, faculty, and RJM leadership to address these concerns and rebuild trust.
We call for a clear and open leadership transition process, involving some input from the Thevenet community, to ensure the best outcome for the school.
Let us honor Sister Joan’s legacy by ensuring a transition that upholds the values she has instilled and secures the continued success of Thevenet Montessori School.
