Following several screenings of the People’s Emergency Briefing in West Berkshire, we would like to thank you for supporting the call on the Government to stage a prime-time televised emergency briefing across all the main channels, delivered by independent experts and supported by the UK’s Chief Scientific Adviser, setting out:

•      the nature and scale of the climate and nature threats facing the UK

•      why these threats matter to people’s lives and livelihoods

•      how government, business and society can engage constructively with the challenges ahead

Such briefings have been used before at moments of national significance to inform the public, build confidence and strengthen collective resilience.

Members of Parliament have a responsibility to ensure the public is well informed about risks facing the nation. The scientific evidence is clear that climate change and nature loss present a rising threat to the UK’s food security, health, infrastructure, economy, and national security. These risks are already affecting communities across the country and will only grow in the years ahead.

Could you please tell us what other measures you are able to take to support public communication on the climate and ecological emergencies in general, and the call for a televised emergency briefing in particular.
