The Issue

To: PCS School Board and Superintendent
From: Concerned Staff, Families, and Community Members of McKinley Elementary School and PACS
Date: 11/19/2025 We, the undersigned, are requesting that the contract of Latricia Donahue, Principal of McKinley elementary and PACS, not be renewed for the upcoming school year. This request is made after ongoing concerns have been brought forward by teachers, classified staff, and families over an extended period of time. These concerns have affected staff morale, student well-being, community morale, inconsistent behavior systems, student learning, and (lack of) support for teachers, classified staff, students, families, and the Mustang community. Specifically, we are concerned about the following:
    1.    Lack of support for teachers and classified staff.
Numerous staff members have reported feeling dismissed, discouraged, or unsupported in their roles. This has contributed to possible staff turnover and a negative working environment that ultimately affects student learning and morale.
    2.    Insufficient support for students and families.
Families require open communication, engagement, and leadership from the principal. Many feel these needs are not being met consistently, leaving students and caregivers without the guidance our school community relies on. Many families are considering leaving McKinley and PACS under the current leadership.
    3.    Limited presence and visibility as the leader of the school.
The principal is expected to be a visible and engaged leader who is present in classrooms, hallways, and school events. A lack of presence weakens school culture and reduces connection with staff, students, and families. These concerns have been raised in professional settings, meetings, emails, and informal communication over time, yet meaningful improvement has not occurred. The well-being of students and staff must remain the top priority, and we believe that new leadership is necessary in order to restore trust, strengthen school culture/morale, and support student success going forward. We respectfully request that the district not renew the contract of Latricia Donahue at the conclusion of the current school year and begin the process of selecting new leadership for McKinley Elementary and PACS.
