The Issue

Massachusetts Bill H.384 "An Act Relative to Toxic Free Kids" proposes a way to track and remove heavy metals and toxic chemicals from everyday objects like children's clothing, school supplies, and toys.

We believe that removing the toxins from a child's everyday life will help prevent many deadly diseases, and protect the children of the future.

Signing will help show that we want a good, healthy, future for our children, and give us a better chance of getting this bill passed in the state of Massachusetts.

Studies shows that many everyday objects have a large amount of heavy metals and toxic chemicals, these chemicals aren't being shown to the consumers, nor are the consumers ever made aware that they are ingesting these materials everyday. For example, many baby formula brands have mercury levels that sit above the daily limit for mercury intake.

A section of research also shows that it is possible for 95% of all cancers are caused by environmental factors, this also lends it to be known that nearly all childhood cancers are mostly caused by certain types of microplastics. These microplastics can be found within babies even before they are born, and prenatal development is an extremely fragile time.

Did you know that many popular candy brands also have nearly unregulated amounts of arsenic? Research shows that Sour Patch Kids have 470 ppb(parts per billion) or in simpler terms, children should limit themselves to 36 single pieces a year, and adults should limit themselves to 90 single pieces a year, both to prevent going over the yearly limit of arsenic intake.
