I'd like to share two recent examples illustrating the topsy-turvy world some would like us to inhabit.
An article by Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research describes a bill the New York city council is advocating.

In part, the article reads:
"Ninety days before the NYPD intends to implement a new surveillance technology, it would have to post on the Internet a technical description of how the new tool works, and how the department plans to use it."
Yes, you read that correctly. The NYC council basically wants to hand over police intelligence to the public.
And from Oakland, California, former inmates - members of law enforcement need not apply - are being encouraged to apply for the job as police commissioner. This is the person who helps select the police chief and disciplines officers. (And it was voter-approved!)

Seems to me we've reached the point where hatred for the law and law enforcement has eclipsed repugnance for criminals and terrorists.
And sadly, we're also at a juncture where I feel like I'm walking on egg shells by writing something that even a decade ago, was considered common sense.
Is there still a war on law enforcement, on those who represent a civil society? Some days it may be less obvious than others, and those behind the efforts lay low. But the answer is yes, I'd say so.
When did this happen? When did criminals & terrorists become the victims, and cops become the criminals?
As Taylor from "Planet of the Apes" says: It's a madhouse!
These are my thoughts and my thoughts alone. We Support Madison Police is a non-partisan group.
All the best.
