I'd like to share a few items . . .
CHIEF'S LEGAL FEES:
Looks like Chief Koval will have to wait another month to learn if he'll get reimbursed the $22,000 for his legal fees. If you recall, he had to hire an attorney to defend himself in front of the Police & Fire Commission (PFC) against frivolous charges made by two residents.
The Common Council was supposed to vote on reimbursement last evening, but is delaying the vote until next month, pending "clarification" from the PFC.
My thoughts? This is one heck of a spiteful bunch. To treat one of the finest human beings & leaders this city has *ever* had with such blatant disrespect is beyond contemptible. This is the Common Council the residents of Madison apparently want representing them.
I suggest reading David Blaska's blog post for his take on this debacle. (Please don't accuse me of pushing a conservative agenda. I like David's ideas on this topic, and I like David. I will work with anyone who is sincere, has common sense, and above-average reasoning skills.)

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
Steve asked Mayor Soglin to sign a proclamation in praise of Madison Police Department. The plan is to deliver the proclamation to Chief Koval during National Police Week next month.
It's been a week, and we're still waiting to hear back. Tick, tock, Mayor. Tick, tock. I've requested proclamations in the past from this office for a bird welfare cause, and heard back from an assistant within a couple days.
What's the holdup on this request?
LAW ENFORCEMENT LICENSE PLATE UPDATE
Fox News in Green Bay drove down to interview Steve this past week regarding his work with Rep. Steffen on the law enforcement license plate bill / memorial fund. A bill that if passed, would provide funds for families of fallen Wisconsin law enforcement heroes.
So exciting. I'll keep you posted. : )
CRIME BILL
Tomorrow Steve is testifying in support of the Victim Prevention Package tomorrow, a series of bills introduced in the House by Representative Sanfelippo & colleagues, and in the Senate by Senator Vukmir & colleagues.
As the title implies, these bills are aimed at protecting victims of violent crimes in Wisconsin.
