Support Local Businesses in Marsden: Allow Outdoor Merchandise and Seating
The Issue
I am a resident of Marsden and believe small businesses are crucial for our vibrant village streets and have always been an essential part of Marsden's community. We have green groceries colourfully displaying vegetables in their store fronts, and we have cozy cafes inviting passersby with their outdoor seating. However, recent fines from Kirklees Council have started obstructing this tradition, with businesses facing unjust fines, despite not causing any access difficulties.
Small and locally-owned businesses are struggling enough to survive these day. These shops not only contribute to an ever-thriving economy but also promote the beauty of the village with their charming, scenic shop fronts. Yet, the onslaught of regulations imposed on these businesses has stifled their ability to operate to their full potential.
Seating and outdoor merchandise help attract a broader customer base, contributing to increased revenue and job stability. It's time we stood by our local businesses and fought against fines and regulations that inhibit their growth and our community's prosperity.
We need to ensure that Marsden remains a community that fosters and appreciates the uniqueness of local businesses. Please sign this petition to urge the local authorities in Marsden to allow local businesses to display their products and provide seating in front of their shops. Together, we can empower our community and ensure Marsden continues to thrive.
