Support Limited Private Golf Cart Use on Legacy Ridge Golf Course

Support Limited Private Golf Cart Use on Legacy Ridge Golf Course
The Issue
Hi Neighbors,
We're gathering support to encourage the City of Westminster to consider a pilot program allowing limited, regulated use of privately owned golf carts on the Legacy Ridge Golf Course. This policy would benefit nearby residents, promote sustainability, and reflect how many other cities have modernized their municipal golf operations.
Here’s why this matters:
- We already pay a premium to live next to a public golf course — Our property taxes and home values are influenced by proximity to Legacy Ridge, a City-run amenity. This proposal offers a modest, responsible benefit to residents who help fund and maintain that public value through their taxes.
- It provides better access for older adults and residents with limited mobility, even if they don’t qualify for ADA carts.
- It supports low-emission, electric transportation by allowing residents to use personally maintained electric golf carts instead of relying solely on the City’s rental fleet.
- It builds a stronger sense of ownership and stewardship over the course and surrounding community. Residents care more about spaces they’re empowered to use responsibly.
- It’s a common-sense policy already working in cities across the country where private carts are registered, insured, GPS-enabled, and permitted under local rules.
- As a younger member of the Legacy Ridge community, I believe this proposal also helps make our neighborhood more vibrant and social. Private cart access fosters a fun, community-centric atmosphere, encouraging neighbors to connect, explore, and enjoy our shared outdoor spaces together.
This isn't a request for special treatment. It’s a practical, fair, and thoughtful proposal that gives nearby residents a small but meaningful way to better access a public asset that already factors into the cost of living here.
If you agree that residents should have a voice in shaping how our public spaces work—especially when we help fund them—please sign the petition and help us bring this discussion to City Council.
Thank you for supporting a more connected, sustainable, and resident-centered Westminster!
