Recently, the indie animation community has been hit hard with the completely unfair copyright claim against Disventure Camp. If action isn't taken, the show could suffer dramatically.

For those who are unaware, Disventure Camp is an indie animated web series created by Odd Nation Cartoons and distributed on YouTube. Taking inspiration from shows like Total Drama and Survivor, it's a spoof of reality television which follows various contestants competing in various different challenges for the chance at a million dollars. The show grew to be very popular, with the ONC YouTube channel having about 385,000 subscribers at the time of this writing. 

Recently, however, ONC has unfairly been subjected to a copyright claim that could very well result in the termination of their channel. The creators go into detail about what happened on a community post, but I'll describe what happened here as well. Almost certainly out of spite over being fired, a former employee of ONC contacted Toon Boom- a company that created the animation software that Disventure Camp was made with- and made a claim that ONC was pirating their software. The creators of the show had valid licenses for the software, and so did all of their animators and collaborators. Despite this, YouTube may very well side with Toon Boom over ONC, as it is a large, multi-million dollar company. 

As a long time fan of Disventure Camp, I have a personal stake in this, too. I discovered the show last year, and I quickly fell in love with it. I'd be devestated if the show was hurt, and so would thousands of others, especially considering the show just started its fourth season, and it’s looking to be one of their best ones yet.

If Toon Boom wins, ONC will be forced to cut corners, and Disventure Camp will suffer as a result. However, I believe that if enough people sign this petition and show their support for Disventure Camp, it could make a difference. Unless ONC wins the dispute, their channel will be shut down a week from now, so we all have to act quick.

Just a single signature could make a difference- not just for ONC, but the indie animation community as a whole.
