Plot thickens for Clark Tavern

To all Clark Tavern supporters, See below for the most recent blog post from Selectman Richard DeSorgher, which is related to the Clark Tavern project still going through the state appeals process. The resident of 361 Main St. who is selling to LCB Senior Living is one of the tavern abutters who has been fighting that project. "Attorney Ted Canon and representatives from LCB Senior Living of Norwood presented the selectmen with information on the proposed assisted living/Alzheimer’s facility on land behind 361 Main Street in the area of the Clark Tavern and Peak House. He explained that the plan would need a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals, site approval from the Planning Board and approval from the Conservation Commission. They have purchased 14 acres of land in the rear of 361 Main Street and the owner of 361 Main Street is selling her property to LCB; the sale of 361 Main Street will enable the facility to have the needed frontage and entrance into the rear, previously land-locked, lot. Since much of the land is in conservation restriction, they would only be using seven of the 14 acres for the actual facility, parking, etc. The rest of the acreage would remain in its natural state. There would be 74 units, with 20 of them memory-assisted living units. According to Attorney Cannon, they would design the building to fit into the historical and residential nature of the neighborhood. There would be three shifts of nurses and staff, with 23 on the 7-3 shift, 15 on the 3-11 shift and 4 on the 11-7 shift. Neighbors attending the meeting voiced concern on what its impact would be on the residential look of the neighborhood, dangers of tying the facility into aging sewer lines on Main Street and the impact of building near Vine Brook."
