Clark Tavern crawls; assisted living speeding up

Christine PottsTisbury, MA, United States

Dear Clark Tavern supporters, The state appeals process for the tavern continues to crawl forward at a snail's pace. However, discussion is now heating up on the proposed assisted living facility that would be located adjacent to the tavern and behind the Peak House. If you care about this new project, please plan to attend the various meetings coming up: Planning Board Meeting: Mon.,Dec.17, 8 p.m., Medfield Town Hall Conservation Committee Meeting: Thurs., Dec.17, Medfield Town Hall (time to be announced) Zoning Board Meeting: Weds, Jan.27, Medfield Town Hall (time to be announced) Project scope (per David Stephenson of the new ad hoc group Preserve Medfield's History and Environment): - The proposed project is a 2.5-story, 78-unit for-profit assisted-living facility on Main Street behind the Peak House and adjacent to the Clark Tavern; - The developers seek a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) to allow its construction in a Main Street residential (RS) zoned neighborhood; -- The facility is roughly 75,000 square feet on a half-acre of land; -- The proposed facility is approx. 41’ high (including the rooftop HVAC system; note: the Peak House is just 22' high); -- Project is proposed by LCB, a Norwood-based developer of for-profit assisted-living facilities; -- Opponents have major concerns about impact on surrounding wetlands and woodlands, the impact on Clark Tavern and Peak House, and the increase in Main Street traffic; -- Proponents want an assisted-living facility in Medfield, but not on this location given the rich historic and environmental qualities that could be harmed. If you would like to get involved with the grassroots group voicing its concern about the project, just contact D.Stephenson@stephensonstrategies.com. For or against the proposed assisted living project on Main Street, the most important thing is to attend the upcoming meetings where it will be discussed and ultimately voted on. Thank you.
