Support funding for McLaren Park multi-use sport court

Support funding for McLaren Park multi-use sport court
The Issue
A multi-use sport court in McLaren Park would create a flexible space for sports and leisure activities. The multi-use sport court in Dolores Park has been a beloved resource for the Mission and Castro neighborhoods since its opening in 2016. A second court in McLaren Park would enhance the park experience and create a valuable resource for neighborhoods surrounding McLaren Park such as Portola, Excelsior, Crocker Amazon, Sunnydale, and Visitacion Valley.
Building a multi-use sport court in McLaren Park will provide families, youth, and individuals with a dedicated space for futsal, hockey, bike polo, Zumba, tai-chi, and more, fostering community wellness and engagement. These types of courts encourage physical activity, serve as social hubs, and create safe environments for kids and adults alike.
The successful implementation of the Dolores Park sport court illustrates the positive impact such facilities have on local communities. With McLaren Park being one of the largest parks in San Francisco, the addition of a new multi-use sport court would significantly enhance its capacity to support diverse sports and leisure activities.
The neighborhoods around McLaren Park—Portola, Excelsior, Crocker Amazon, Sunnydale, and Visitacion Valley—are vibrant communities deserving of investment in recreational infrastructure. A new sport court would not only serve as a place for exercise and play but also as a landmark that encourages community pride and cohesion.
Let’s come together to help make this vision a reality. By supporting this initiative, we advocate for a healthier, more active, and connected community. Please sign this petition to show your support for the 2026 Community Opportunity Fund grant, and help us build a multi-use sport court in McLaren Park.
