The Issue

Isavela Lopez, a cherished member of our Indigenous Minneapolis community, is facing charges that threaten her freedom. This situation not only affects her but also reverberates throughout our community, undermining our shared belief in justice and fairness.

Isavela, much like many others who have faced similar challenges, is caught in a legal battle that calls into question the principles of equity and justice. The charges against her are considered by many to be unjust and disproportionately harsh given the circumstances. In Minneapolis, a city proud of its diverse and supportive community, we must come together to show that we do not stand by impunity.

The justice system should protect citizens, not unjustly burden them. It is imperative that we advocate for her freedom and demand that all charges against Isavela are dropped. Her story is emblematic of a broader systemic issue that affects many, especially within marginalized communities.

By signing this petition, you are joining a movement for justice, equality, and compassion. Let us stand united in supporting Isavela. Our collective voice can help bring justice to Isavela Lopez and remind the system of its duty to uphold the principles it was built upon. Please sign this petition to support Isavela Lopez and call for all charges against her to be dropped immediately.

UPDATE:

Isavela Lopez, a cherished member of our Indigenous Minneapolis community, is facing charges that threaten her freedom. This case doesn’t exist in isolation—it reverberates through our neighborhoods and families, testing our shared belief in justice and fairness.

Isavela, like many who have been targeted in similar ways, is now caught in a legal battle that raises hard questions about equity, proportionality, and due process. The charges are widely viewed as unjust and disproportionately harsh given the circumstances. In Minneapolis—a city that prides itself on diversity, mutual aid, and accountability—we refuse to accept impunity or selective enforcement.

The justice system should protect people, not punish them unfairly. We are calling for all charges against Isavela to be dropped.

We invite everyone to join the community event, panel discussion, and concert on Sunday, September 14th at George Floyd Square (Square Studio) beginning at noon hosted by a coalition (MIRAC, Indigenous Roots, Home Girls For Isa, and Indigenous Protector Movement). Your presence and solidarity fuel this fight. Next, we turn to the courts: Isavela’s next evidentiary hearing is on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. (CT). Court support matters—our collective witness signals to the system that our community is paying attention and standing together.

By signing this petition, you are joining a movement for justice, equality, and compassion. Add your name and share widely. Let us stand united with Isavela Lopez, demand that all charges be dropped immediately, and remind the system of its duty to uphold the principles it was built upon.
