Support for Rescheduling the Reading Bowl to Avoid Student Conflicts

Support for Rescheduling the Reading Bowl to Avoid Student Conflicts
The Issue
The Reading Bowl is an exciting and valuable opportunity for our students, and we truly appreciate the effort that goes into organizing it.
However, the current Reading Bowl date conflicts with two previously scheduled academic events:
4H Oral Reading Competition
Honors Chorus
Because the Reading Bowl was rescheduled after these events were already established, many students are now forced to choose between important academic opportunities. This situation unintentionally limits student participation and creates unnecessary stress for families and teachers.
Honors Chorus, 4H and Reading Bowl all require months of preparation and commitment. When students are required to choose only one event, it will significantly reduce participation in these programs and diminish the recognition of the hard work they have invested over time.
We respectfully request that the Reading Bowl date be reconsidered so that students can fully participate in all three programs without conflict.
As a possible solution, we propose February 14, 2026 as an alternative date for the Reading Bowl, if feasible.
Our goal is not to cancel or diminish the Reading Bowl, but to ensure equitable access and support for all students involved.
By signing below, we support adjusting the Reading Bowl date in the best interest of our students.
