Earlier today Patterson Farm Preservation, Inc. a 501(c)3 organization submitted a lease proposal to Lower Makefield Township for the Satterthwaite Farmstead on Patterson Farm. The farmstead consists of a farmhouse (vacant since 2005) and a barn and outbuildings.
The lease option offers to establish a working relationship with the municipality, and a home for the preservation group. In exchange the group will partner with the municipality in fundraising and will orchestrate restoration of historic Satterthwaite House. The establishment of Patterson Agriculture & Heritage Center in Satterthwaite House will assist the farm’s perpetual care. President of the group, Jeff Hirko, is a township resident, Licensed Contractor and experienced restorationist.
Educational programming to engage the community and foster a connection to the land is planned for the restored farmstead.
The Lower Makefield Ad Hoc Committee meets Thursday Oct 12 to discuss creation of a Master Plan for the farm. Details on website
