The Issue

As a long-time kickball player and committed member of the Kickball Society—a league that has played at Wesley Chapel District Park for three full seasons now—I’m reaching out to our community to stand with us against a decision that threatens the future of our league.

Pasco County officials and the District Park management have recently imposed a 70/30 revenue split on Kickball Society. We’ve been told this change is due to “high demand” for the fields and a need to prioritize rentals that generate more revenue. That explanation doesn’t hold water.

What’s really happening is that the county has chosen to launch its own kickball league—effectively pushing out long-standing, established leagues like ours and redirecting business away from the very community organizations that have supported this park.

Kickball Society isn’t just a league. It’s a part of the local culture here—bringing people together, building friendships, encouraging fitness, and giving families a fun, safe way to stay active. Kickball society not only provides adults with an outlet to stay fit and socialize, they give our community a philanthropic outlet to raise funds and provide meals for those less fortunate. Hashtag lunchbag of Tampa bay has been able to produce 200+ meals for our local homeless community, and those funds come directly from the social events held by kickball society. These fields belong to the community, and the community has always brought them to life.

To suddenly price out a grassroots league in favor of a government-run alternative isn’t just unfair—it’s a misuse of authority and a direct blow to the people who have poured time, money, and heart into these seasons.

We’re asking Pasco County leadership to reverse this decision, restore fair field access, and support—not undermine—local recreation groups that make Wesley Chapel the vibrant place it is.

Please sign to help protect the Kickball Society and keep our community’s kickball tradition alive.
