Stafford County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner recently announced his resignation effective January 2021. Dr. Kizner has been a tremendous advocate for the staff and students of SCPS. His efforts in Stafford have been unprecedented, and while we recognize that Dr. Kizner's decision is a personal one, we are deeply saddened by his announcement. Dr. Kizner will be the fourth Superintendent to leave Stafford in the past decade. This unfortunate pattern of inconsistency in leadership has resulted in lower employee morale and greater teacher turnover, which in turn has a detrimental effect on students' learning experience.  The positive change that Dr. Kizner has enacted within the county cannot be denied. Students, staff, and parents signing this petition support Dr. Kizner, and would like to see his impact continue. We respectfully request that the School Board and Dr. Kizner discuss extending his resignation until, at a minimum, the end of the 2020-2021 school year, to maintain consistent leadership and reap the benefits of Dr. Kizner's positive efforts for as long as possible. We do NOT want to force Dr. K to stay, but we DO want him to see how much we appreciate him, and hope this might help change his mind.
