Support David Lee Ozborn's Clemency Application

The Issue

This letter of petition is respectfully submitted in support of executive clemency for David Lee Ozborn, MDOC# 125284. It is understood that Mr. Ozborn has committed a crime for which he must pay a debt to society, and that he has admitted to his crime through a guilty plea. However, after a period of incarceration, everyone deserves a chance to demonstrate their rehabilitation. Good people make mistakes, but they can also change for the better and lead lives as beneficial citizens of society. Through my interactions with Mr. Ozborn's family, I have witnessed the effects of a well-respected man and father honestly striving to improve himself, provide guidance to his family, and help others. As demonstrated by his behavior and actions, Mr. Ozborn has repented of his crimes and is not a threat to himself or others. Mr. Ozborn has served as a model prisoner since his incarceration in 2006, constantly working to improve himself and the lives of those around him, including working in the Chaplain's Department, Education Department, and wherever else he was needed. Further, he exhibits a desire and willingness to work within the rules of society. It is sincerely believed that Mr. Ozborn will prove himself to be an asset to his community and to the State of Mississippi if given the opportunity through release from incarceration early through an executive commutation of sentence or pardon.
