Dan and his family finally have a hearing date set for August to determine if the former Attorney General's decision to allow the US extradition was flawed.
It's been 962 days since Dan was thrown into solitary confinement with no Australian charges. The family has been refused legal aid, their home has been confiscated and Dan, the main income earner is gone.
The toll emotionally and financially that this ordeal has plagued this poor family might have brought anyone undone. But they continue to find strength from their family and friends who have been supporting them and Dan. They still hold out hope that Dan will be released soon.
When we hear stories like Cheng Lei’s, former imprisoned journalist in China - who was falsely accused like Dan, we feel empowered.
Dan is suffering through a similar situation as to what Cheng Lei faced locked up during the pandemic. We empathise with her and commend her for sharing her story through her new book and documentary, shedding light on unjust situations like Dan’s.
Nick Coyle, Cheng’s husband, previously supported Dan and said that he understood the enormous impact this process would have on a family and hoped that the Duggan’s were getting the support they needed.
If you can, please donate to this beautiful family and let’s get Dan free.
