Petition in Support of a Playground at Rosel Park

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Old South, strongly support the City of London’s plan to add a small playground and amenities to Rosel Park.

For decades, Rosel Park has been a gathering space for neighbours, but it currently lacks accessible play equipment for children and families.

Adding a modest playground, seating, and game tables will make the park more inclusive and welcoming for all ages while preserving its central open grass area for soccer, football, dog walking, and community gatherings.

We believe:

Every child deserves a safe place to play close to home. Playgrounds provide essential opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and healthy development.

The proposed design respects the green space. The city has already committed to maintaining the park’s central open field while adding amenities along the perimeter.

Playgrounds build stronger communities. They create natural gathering points where neighbours connect, families bond, and a sense of belonging is fostered.

Traffic and safety concerns can be managed. With thoughtful design, including sidewalks and safe crossings if and where deemed helpful, the park will remain safe and accessible for everyone.

The majority of surveyed residents support development. According to the City’s own survey, 60% of respondents expressed interest in adding amenities to Rosel Park.

Rosel Park should serve the needs of the entire community — children, parents, seniors, and neighbours of all backgrounds. A playground is not a threat to our neighbourhood, but an investment in its future.

Third places are the backbone of our community, and purchasing a coffee and baked treat from Locomotive Espresso and crossing Ridout to enjoy it in Rosel Park will benefit the entire neighbourhood

We urge the City of London to move forward with the Rosel Park playground project and ensure this beloved space continues to grow as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming hub for Old South.
