Support Change and Hope for Abraham Hagos

Support Change and Hope for Abraham Hagos
The Issue
In the pursuit of justice, fairness must be at the heart of the legal system. Abraham Hagos, currently serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole plus 90 years , calls for compassionate reconsideration.
This video link provides a look into Abe's life including the trauma Abe lived through as a child fleeing with his family from the Red Terror in Ethiopia to a camp in Sudan to Leo and Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then living in the Sun Valley Projects of West Denver.
Abe's current sentence negates the potential for him to demonstrate his rehabilitation, growth, capacity to safely return to his community and ultimately, redemption. Abe is currently denied any hope of re-entry into society, a potential he could fulfill if given the opportunity. Life without parole offers no chance to demonstrate that he has changed.
Even without that hope, Abe, who is 50 years old and has been incarcerated almost 27 years, focuses on personal growth and how to positively impact his community, as shown in these links to his resume and proposed re-entry plan. As illustrated in letters, Abe has the support of his family, friends, formerly incarcerated men living successful lives in the community, and prison staff. Advocating for a second look at Abe Hagos' sentences is a request for our legal system to recognize the human capacity for change.
Sign this petition to urge the authorities to reassess Abe's sentences and provide him with the possibility of a future. By signing this petition, we demonstrate that Abe has the support of the Ethiopian community as well as the larger community. Let us stand together in support of Abe Hagos and of a legal system that believes in second chances.
If you would like to reach out directly to Abe, you can send him a letter addressed to Abraham Hagos # 116057, Limon Correctional Facility, 49030 State Hwy 71 South, Limon CO 80826 or create an account at https://securustech.online/#/login and send him an email.
