We Support Chana & Mendel Zirkind as Maui’s Next Official Chabad Representatives
We, the undersigned members, families, friends, and supporters of Maui’s Jewish community, respectfully ask Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch / Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn and Chabad of Hawaiʻi leadership, including Rabbi Itchel and Perel Krasnjansky, to recognize and appoint Chana and Mendel Zirkind as the official Chabad representatives serving the Maui community.
Chana and Mendel have already demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to Jewish life on Maui through their work at Maui Kosher Farm and through the countless ways they serve both local families and visitors to our island.
They provide access to kosher food for locals and visitors—something incredibly valuable and necessary for Jewish life on Maui. But what they provide goes far beyond food.
Chana and Mendel have created a place where Jewish people feel welcomed, supported, and at home. Their doors are open to anyone who needs them, whether it is a local family looking for connection, a visitor hoping to celebrate Shabbat or a holiday while away from home, or simply someone in need of support and community.
They have invested deeply in Maui’s Jewish children and families, organizing summer camps, children’s activities, holiday programs, and opportunities for our children to experience Judaism with joy and a true sense of belonging.
Most importantly, Chana and Mendel have earned the trust, love, and respect of so many within our community through their actions. They are present. They are approachable. They are warm and welcoming. They have shown, day after day, that serving Maui’s Jewish community is not simply something they do—it is something they have wholeheartedly committed themselves to.
As Maui’s Jewish community looks toward its next chapter, we believe Chana and Mendel are uniquely positioned to continue building a vibrant, welcoming, and connected Jewish community here on our island.
We respectfully ask Chabad leadership to listen to the voices of the Maui community and beyond ,and recognize Chana and Mendel Zirkind as the next official Chabad representatives of Maui.
By signing this petition, we are expressing our support for Chana and Mendel and our belief that they are the right people to lead, serve, and strengthen Jewish life on Maui for years to come.
