Support Beeliar Hive Pharmacy - PBS Approval

Support Beeliar Hive Pharmacy - PBS Approval
The issue
Beeliar Hive Pharmacy, located in Yangebup, currently operates as a non-PBS pharmacy. It is a private pharmacy which does not have government approval to claim pharmaceutical benefits from the Australian Government.
We are currently in the process of attempting to obtain approval to supply pharmaceutical benefits.
As of 15 November 2023, Lagoon Medical Centre commenced operating as an Urgent Care Centre. There are currently four Medicare approved urgent care facilities across Western Australia (including Lagoon Medical Centre). An Urgent Care Centre is a walk-in service, which operates for extended hours, seven days a week, and is bulk-billed. It is utilised when an individual needs medical attention for an illness or injury that can be managed without a trip to the emergency department, but cannot wait for a regular appointment with a GP.
As a result of the Urgent Care Centre, it is anticipated there will now be a higher demand to supply prescriptions in the pharmacy as patients from multiple electorates, including Fremantle, Tangney and Burt are likely to visit the Urgent Care Centre in Yangebup for medical attention, as this would be the closest Centre to them.
Currently, we are left with no alternative but to advise patients that we are unable to assist them with certain prescriptions (those which are subsidised by the government), and they must source them elsewhere. This has proven to be inconvenient for many, particularly the elderly and vulnerable patients.
It is crucial that the pharmacy is approved to claim Pharmaceutical Benefits, to ensure that the genuine needs of the community at large are being met and urgent demands are fulfilled. In the event that the pharmacy is not approved, we will need to continue advise patients to source their prescriptions from an alternative pharmacy.
Help support the pharmacy in its attempts in obtaining PBS approval by signing and sharing this petition. Change is needed now, with the help of community members.
