The Issue

I am currently homeless with my two children in Phoenix, Arizona. Life has become an incredibly difficult struggle. Every day, I wonder where my next meal will come from and worry about my children's well-being. My 6-year-old desperately needs a shower and a stable environment to attend school regularly.I also have a 2year old son. I am fighting for Social Security Income (SSI) with the help of a lawyer, but time is passing by quickly, and my family's needs are urgent. Being diabetic and facing mental health challenges, I feel trapped in a cycle where finding a stable home seems impossible. The lack of immediate support and emergency shelters for families like mine in the Phoenix area only adds to the burden. Unfortunately, many parents find themselves in the same situation, with no place to go and no resources to rely upon. According to the Arizona Department of Economic Security, over 10,000 individuals experience homelessness on any given day in Arizona, and families represent a significant portion of this statistic. The shortage of family shelters and accessible resources is dire. This gap in support systems leaves families exposed to severe risks, impacting children's mental and physical health adversely. We need more emergency shelters in Phoenix that are specifically equipped to assist families in crisis, providing them with the immediate resources they require to find stability. Temporary housing, access to healthcare, and educational support for children should be non-negotiable components of our community's approach to tackling homelessness. The city of Phoenix and state authorities must allocate more funds to establish emergency shelters and programs that address these urgent needs. Let's push for legislation that ensures families receive rapid, comprehensive assistance and sustainable pathways out of homelessness. Sign this petition to demand immediate action from local and state government leaders to fund and create more emergency shelters and services for homeless families. With your support, we can make a difference in ensuring no family in Phoenix has to endure what we are going through right now.
