The Issue

The Issue
LaGrange, NY is at an important crossroads.

The proposed LaGrange Town Center has raised important questions about traffic, flooding, wetlands, groundwater, stormwater, emergency services, and whether our Town's planning and environmental review process is keeping pace with projects of this size.

We are not against growth. We want to ensure that growth happens responsibly and that decisions affecting our community are based on today's standards, not outdated assumptions.

The Town Center proposal has become the catalyst for a broader conversation about how major development projects are reviewed in LaGrange. Before projects with lasting impacts move forward, residents deserve confidence that decisions are based on current information, a transparent public process, and environmental review that reflects today's conditions.

The scale of the proposal matters. The LaGrange Town Center is planned across 194 acres and includes 608 residential units, approximately 175,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, office and other non-residential space, and an estimated 1,497 new residents. A project of this size could shape traffic, infrastructure, natural resources, and development patterns in LaGrange for decades.

We are asking the Town Board to adopt a temporary moratorium on the proposed LaGrange Town Center while the Town updates its Comprehensive Plan, strengthens its planning and environmental review process, and considers when independent review of major environmental and engineering studies is appropriate.

This effort is about more than one project. It is about creating stronger standards that protect our drinking water, natural resources, neighborhoods, and quality of life while supporting responsible growth for every future development in LaGrange.

If you believe LaGrange deserves thoughtful planning, responsible growth, and a review process the public can trust, please sign this petition and share it with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Together, we can help protect the future of LaGrange.

Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate the public’s interest in land use policy in the Town of LaGrange. The decision to implement a moratorium is multifaceted and has both legal and policy implications. Rest assured the Town Board will carefully review all of these issues before it decides whether or not to take an action. Kind regards, Kelly Robin [Note: The Change.org Civic Engagement Team reaches out to decision makers to let them know about petitions in their community and to help facilitate engagement with supporters.
