Support a Safe, Dignified New Mosque for Albuquerque’s Muslim Community
The Issue
We have witnessed firsthand how the Albuquerque Muslim community has outgrown its current mosque. During Friday prayers, the space becomes overcrowded, and families often struggle to find enough room. The current facility no longer provides the safe, dignified, and welcoming environment that worshippers need.
This is about more than a building. It is about giving families, children, elders, and every member of the broader Muslim community a proper place to pray, learn, and gather. Every faith community deserves a safe and welcoming place to worship and belong.
Albuquerque’s Muslim community has continued to grow, but the current facility has not grown with it. With more than 2,000 active members, the need for a larger, safer, and more appropriate mosque is clear.
The proposed North Valley mosque and community space would help meet this need. It would provide room for prayer, family programming, youth education, community gathering, and interfaith dialogue, while giving the Islamic Center the opportunity to continue serving Albuquerque in a peaceful and responsible way.
We understand that new projects can raise questions, including questions about traffic, parking, noise, and neighborhood impact. These concerns deserve clear answers, and the Islamic Center is committed to being transparent, respectful, and responsive throughout the process.
Muslim families are part of Albuquerque. They are neighbors, coworkers, business owners, students, parents, teachers, healthcare workers, and community members. They deserve fairness, dignity, and a safe place to worship.
Please sign this petition to show your support for a safe, dignified, and welcoming new mosque for Albuquerque’s Muslim community.
