Support a new clubhouse for St Mary's Eagle Vale SC
The issue
The current facility is ageing, outdated and no longer fit for purpose. The entire operation of the club is run from a single room that also doubles as the canteen. This one small space serves as the administration office, meeting room, equipment hub and food service area, making it impossible to efficiently support the hundreds of players, volunteers, officials and families who rely on the club each season.
Unlike many sporting facilities, this clubhouse is in constant use throughout the entire year. It services both the summer and winter soccer competitions and is utilised every single day of the week for training, matches, meetings, canteen operations and community activities. The ageing building is under continuous demand, yet it simply cannot cope with the needs of a growing football club.
The limitations of the clubhouse are made more evident on major event days such as the Amy Harrison Cup, when more than 80 teams from across New South Wales visit Kooringa Reserve in a single day. Players, families and supporters travel from all corners of the state, yet they are welcomed by outdated, overcrowded and run-down facilities that no longer reflect the proud history or standing of our club. A facility of this size and significance simply cannot continue to operate from one ageing multipurpose room.
The building is also affected by ongoing drainage problems that cause bathrooms and equipment storage areas to flood during heavy rain, damaging valuable sporting equipment and creating health and safety concerns. To make matters worse, the girls' bathrooms are affected by a persistent bird infestation, creating unhygienic conditions and frightening many of our younger players. No child should feel scared or unsafe when simply trying to use the bathroom while participating in the sport they love.
Our players, volunteers, officials and families deserve facilities that are safe, modern, accessible and capable of supporting a club of this size. As participation continues to grow, particularly among women and girls, the current clubhouse is no longer able to meet the needs of our community. A new clubhouse is not a luxury; it is an essential investment in the future of St Mary's Eagle Vale Club and all of players who call it their home away from home.
