Support 2023 US Mink Farm Ban, HR 3783 (Mink VIRUS Act)

Support 2023 US Mink Farm Ban, HR 3783 (Mink VIRUS Act)
The Issue
Farmed mink: millions of these animals kept in tiny cages. They self-mutilate or mutilate each other out of boredom. They break their teeth chewing their wire pens. They pace and develop other stereotypic behavior. They live in a tiny wire hell.
But not in the United States... Right? Surely mink farming was banned in the US decades ago?
Wrong. Not only is there still legal mink farming in the US, but US welfare standards are actually sub-par when compared to fur farming welfare standards in parts of Europe... The few parts that even still allow this outdated sector of agriculture to continue.
We have the opportunity to end mink farming in the US, right now. We need to ask our state representatives to support a currently proposed mink farming ban and end this inhumane industry once and for all- the name of this legislation is "Mink: Vectors for Infection Risk in the United States Act (Mink VIRUS Act), H.R. 3783". Some of you may be asking, what are these animals, these "mink"? For countless years mink farmers have justified farming and killing these animals by calling them mean, aggressive, nasty, evil. The Paul Project also aims to expose that for the propaganda that it is. These mink may be scared and defensive when cornered in tiny cages, but they are also intelligent, goofy, playful, quirky, loyal. Although they require specialized care, there is not much that separates them from the multiple companion animal species that we share our daily lives with.
