Extend the Miami Dade County Public Schools Gradebook due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Issue

The COVID-19 pandemic has left everyone who have been apart of the Miami Dade County Public School (MDCPS) system ill or/and frightened due to being prone to the dangers of how contagious the virus may be. As a result, students in the county are now assigned to online learning in zoom to help continue their education.

This may be helpful to protect everyone from the corona virus but currently brings up the issue on the ability to catch up in our school assignments with the gradebook closing in the MDCPS system. There are tests and in-school assignments that will be impossible to have finished online. On top of that, student's grades will be at risk and teachers will have to hassle to complete the gradebook with most of the assignments switched out or replaced in a matter of less than 2-3 school days. Rather than reasonably focusing on the health and protection of family and friends, everyone in the MDCPS system will end up stressing on how to keep our education and work in check without harming any of the students' educational future in the process.

This is personal to a lot of students due to having family members and themselves being prone to illnesses due to past health issues, especially with COVID-19 cases spreading across the nation. With gradebook closing soon and the necessity of people worrying about the pandemic, extending the gradebook will help the health and educational aspect of everyone in the MDCPS system.

Please extend the Miami Dade County Public School Gradebook to a further date.
