My name is Eddie Boyd and I am a parent of a student who attends Morrow High School. Morrow Higb School is currently in the city of Morrow, GA. A new school for Morrow High School is being built in the city of Ellenwood. Myself and other parents of  students would like the name change to give the current students a fresh start with a name matching the city in which it’s currently being built in.

A name means a lot and also comes with a perception that may have anything to do with reality. The administration is great, the students are eager to learn, this new facility is being built which will fit the needs of the students and in a new community which welcomes it. As being part of the Ellenwood community, we would like this school’s name to go along with the values we hold dear. Also, we are excited to welcome the school with open arms by being involved and supporting the sports teams. Change is good sometimes and this is one of those situations. Our kids shouldn’t be held accountable for a history that’s not theirs.

In closing, I asking you to join me in petitioning Dr. Beasley to give the students a fresh start in a new city with an appropriate name of the city which it will be seated. Remember, it’s not possible to be heard if we don’t speak. Let’s let our voice be heard by signing this petition and request Morrow High School name be changed to Ellenwood High School.
