Join us by signing this petition and standing with residents of the El Portal Trailer Park who received letters from Yosemite National Park saying they have to remove or surrender their homes (with no compensation for their homes) by early 2022, (February 16th for some residents and March 13th for others). Most who live in the trailer park now are older people who have worked in Yosemite for decades, raising their families in the homes they are ordered to leave behind.

Yosemite has other plans for the trailer park and are evicting long time residence with only 60 days notice for future plans that the trailer park will be converted to a public and administrative-use campground for recreational vehicles, with campground construction slated to begin in 2024. In addition, Yosemite wants to use the land as a staging area for construction equipment for various Yosemite projects starting the spring of 2022. 

The members of the trailer park are a part of the community of El Portal and this eviction is detrimental if it is achieved. This change in the El Portal community not only effects those who are being evicted, but also effects the integrity and the structure of the community with concerns of future evictions from the government, to all community members and long term residents.
